The election of Abdoulaye Fall as president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) on August 3, 2025, has sparked mixed reactions, mixing hope for renewal and caution in the face of high expectations. Two sports journalists, Marieme Ndiaye (Les Échos) and Jules Arame Mbengue (Record), offer their analysis of the new president.

Proven legitimacy, according to Marieme Ndiaye

Marieme Ndiaye emphasizes Abdoulaye Fall's legitimacy, acquired within the former FSF Executive Committee. "He has forged his experience in decision-making. Surrounded by influential figures in Senegalese football, he is consolidating his position," she says.

She sees him as "a man of duty, with a progressive vision for the development of football, both locally and internationally." His call for unity and stability sends a strong signal. "If he makes this happen, he could be the man for the job," she believes, while cautioning: "He will have to take concrete action to be judged."

For Ndiaye, Fall's management of AS Bambey (Ligue 2) is a guarantee of credibility, although running a club is different from running a federation. "He has been able to build a project rooted in the realities on the ground," she notes, praising his ability to unite football stakeholders. She warns, however: "Expectations are immense, especially on the international scene, where Senegalese football has set the bar very high."

A man of the field, according to Jules Arame Mbengue

For Jules Arame Mbengue, Fall's election comes as no surprise. "He has earned the trust of the football world through his work, particularly in the Diourbel League and in the regional leagues," he explains. A former general treasurer of Dakar and Senegal, Fall is recognized for his commitment to grassroots football. "He understands the inner workings, challenges, and expectations of Senegalese football," adds Mbengue.

"His profile ticks all the boxes: competence, experience, vision," says the journalist. The rigor acquired in managing the national treasury is an asset for the FSF. A member of the previous Executive Committee, Fall proposes a "rich and structured" program, supported by an experienced team. "He advocates renewal, but he must now turn his promises into results," concludes Mbengue.

Abdoulaye Fall takes the helm of an ambitious Senegalese football team, buoyed by recent successes, notably the 2021 AFCON. The transition, between continuity and disruption, promises to be delicate. His main challenge will be to innovate while surpassing past performances, under the demanding gaze of players and supporters.

Bayilen sokhor waye!!!
