Créance de 1,6 milliard F CFA : Thierno Bâ, contre-attaque

Targeted by a fraud complaint, businessman Thierno Ndom Bâ is counterattacking. The ex-husband of Aminata Tall, former president of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), has decided to take legal action against Baïdy Kane, who accuses him of having received 1.6 billion CFA francs on behalf of his family without paying the funds back.

The money allegedly represents the settlement of a debt owed by the late head of the Kane family in the accounts of the Senegal Railways. Upon the liquidation of the company, the courts reportedly validated the debt. On behalf of the heirs, Baïdy Kane approached Thierno Ndom Bâ to recover the funds.

Despite the latter's promise of a quick settlement, the case stalled. During a hearing, Kane reportedly learned from former Prime Minister Amadou Bâ, then Minister of Economy, Finance, and Planning, that the debt had been settled. This is how he filed a complaint against Aminata Tall's ex.

This version is disputed by the accused. "The debt in question was never settled by the Senegalese state," corrects Seydou Diagne, who contacted L'Observateur, which uncovered the truth. The lawyer claims that his client had acquired the debt for 600 million CFA francs. Armed with the relevant documents, Thierno Ndom Bâ, according to the black robe, approached Amadou Bâ.

Having been given the case, the State Judicial Agent (AJE) informed the minister by letter that "the State of Senegal is not liable for this debt", specifying that the settlement of this debt should be the responsibility of the liquidator of the Chemins de fer du Sénégal.

"Let Baidy Kane produce a single document proving that my client received a single franc in this affair," challenges Me Seydou Diagne, who announces a complaint against the latter "for fraud, extortion and dissemination of false news."
