Cité Ouvrière (Thiès) : Un nouveau-né retrouvé vivant dans une maison en chantier
The discovery of an infant less than a month old, abandoned alive in a house under construction in the Cité Ouvrière, behind the Cité Ballabey, in the Thiès-Est commune, has shocked public opinion. It was a domestic worker whose attention was drawn to unusual crying who raised the alarm.
"It was my maid who heard the baby's cries. She immediately informed me, and I alerted the neighbors before informing the authorities," confided a neighbor. With their usual promptness, the brave firefighters from the Thiès fire station quickly deployed to the scene, to take care of the newborn and evacuate him to the Ahmadou Sakhir Ndiéguène regional hospital. The child was alive but visibly weakened.
The city with two train stations, where the issue of support for young mothers in distress is a pressing one, has been facing a series of disturbing events for some time. The police have opened an investigation.
