MUSCAT — The Oman Olympic team reached London yesterday ahead of their London Games qualifying game against Senegal. According to information received here, the team were given a warm welcome by the Oman Embassy representatives. The Omanis, who are being coached by Frenchman Paul le Guen, will have a closed-door training session at Arsenal grounds from 3.30 pm today.
Tomorrow they are scheduled to play a friendly match with Arsenal reserve team and they will move to Coventry on Thursday for their match against Senegal. The Afro-Asian play-off for the 16th and final place at the Summer Games will take place at City of Coventry Stadium on April 23.
Meanwhile, the officials informed that three of the 19 players selected for Coventry trip are yet to arrive in London. The departure of trio of Nasser al Shamli, Qasim Said and Azan Abbas has been delayed due to late clearance of their visas. But they will join the team today or tomorrow.
