Kirloskar Brothers Limited bags an order from Senegal
Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) have received an order worth US$ 27 million (Rs.1208 million) for supply of pumpsets from the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Senegal .
The pumpsets are of various types of end suction and vertical pumps either engine or motor driven to be supplied within three months. The funding is under credit line by the Government of India against its team 9 initiatives.
At present Senegal imports rice from other countries, as agriculture production is limited due to lack of proper irrigation facilities. KBL will closely work with the Senegal Government to help Senegal attain self sufficiency in rice production by 2012. With these pumps to be supplied by KBL, a large area of farmland would come under irrigation and thus multiple cropping is possible in a year. KBL has the experience of developing such irrigation facilities in other countries for achieving self - sufficiency in food
