Billets de dollars et d'euros illustrant la chute du rial iranien face aux devises occidentales
Iran's national currency hit its lowest level against the dollar on Wednesday, amid a US blockade of the country's ports, since the advent of the Islamic Republic in 1979, according to several currency monitoring sites.
At 09:30 GMT, one dollar was trading at approximately 1.80 million rials, while one euro was worth 2.10 million rials, according to the reference sites Bonbast and AlanChand.
Two months ago, before the outbreak of war by the United States and Israel, the rate was about 1.70 million rials to one dollar and 2 million rials to one euro.
