Gambie : deux Sénégalais arrêtés parmi 36 suspects
Two Senegalese nationals are among 36 people arrested in Gambia as part of a major anti-drug operation carried out between mid and late July, reports The Voice Newspaper, quoted by Les Échos and citing Ousman Saidybah, spokesperson for the Gambia Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG).
They are being prosecuted for possession or trafficking of narcotics.
The crackdown, based on Gambia's 2003 Drug Law, resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cannabis, kush, ecstasy and hashish.
In total, 34 cases have been brought to court, with several convictions already handed down.
At the same time, awareness campaigns are underway on the radio to prevent drug use.
