[Billet d'humour] Mimi-Aida: les nouveaux visages du Projet ?
Senegal is a magnificent country where the "anti-establishment" always end up embracing the system… with the same ferocity as a cat that, despite its wild appearance, ends up on the plush living room cushion. We thought the arrival of Diomaye and Sonko would shake up the old politics. We imagined a clean slate, new faces, a breath of fresh air. The result? We find Aïda and Mimi, two figures who know Senegalese politics better than the inner workings of the Presidential Palace. Are they the new faces of the Project? In any case, it's the system… in heels!
Aïda Mbodj, the "Lioness of Bambey," has been roaring since Diouf's time. She hunted under Wade, tanned under Macky, and now she's purring under Diomaye. As for Mimi Touré, she's more politically savvy than a basketball: a left-wing activist with Landing Savané, a minister under Macky Sall, then coalition director for the anti-establishment. That's what you call premium recycling. Here, politics is the art of staying on your feet even when everything is collapsing—especially promises.
And while the activists are tearing each other apart over accusations of "betrayal" and "strategy," Uncle Habib has already found his seat. Not just any seat: a folding chair on the Senelec Board of Directors. A fine career change for this retired economic investigations commissioner.
Ultimately, why aim for the Palace when you can have a position at Senelec? Electricity is the real power!
And then, as if to balance everything out, Mary Teuw Niane, a renowned mathematician and calm man, comes along to solve the Diomaye equation. His job? To calculate the exact degree of continuity between the old regime and the new.
As if to say that the system hasn't been defeated. It's just changed its shirt—ironed, perfumed, and refurbished. "Anti-system" was the slogan. "The system" is the career path.
Ultimately, Sonko and Diomaye have achieved a remarkable feat: uniting all these veterans under a single banner. It's the finest consensus in the Republic. And what if the anti-establishment approach meant… adopting the system, but in a “responsible” version?
