Décès de Ndiom Thiaw : Soussoung perd son défenseur le plus engagé
The village of Soussoung, in the department of Mbour, is in shock following the announcement of the passing of Ndiom Thiaw, president of the Collective for the Defense of the Lands of Soussoung, who was about forty years old.
The awakening was particularly painful and brutal this Saturday morning for the residents of Soussoung. The sudden passing of Ndiom Thiaw, an emblematic figure in the land struggles in the area, leaves a huge void within the community.
Known for his unwavering commitment against land grabbing, Ndiom Thiaw had become, over the years, an essential and respected voice in the defense of rural rights. His determination had brought to light several land injustices and united villagers around a common struggle.
According to his family, the man in his forties was struck down by an illness that lasted only about twenty days, leaving his family and fellow wrestlers little time to prepare for such a loss. His passing has plunged the village into deep sorrow.
The deceased leaves behind a widow and three children, as well as a grieving but grateful community for his courage and dedication.
