Déplacement du président Bassirou Diomaye Faye à Abidjan : Un acte diplomatique fort et stratégique
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye attended the inauguration ceremony of President Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan on Monday, December 8, 2025. According to Idrissa Ibrahima Wélé and Lababa Faye of the DiomayePresident coalition's communications team, the Senegalese head of state's presence was highly symbolic and strategic for Senegalese diplomacy.
"By his presence, the Head of State places Senegal's diplomatic action within a tradition of solidarity, respect, and fraternity between two nations that have always shared a common vision of African progress. This gesture, so very solemn, reflects President Diomaye Faye's firm commitment to reaffirming Senegal's attachment to the values that underpin sub-regional stability, in particular sincere cooperation, fruitful political dialogue, economic integration, and the defense of an asserted African sovereignty."
"By responding to President Ouattara's invitation, Diomaye Faye demonstrates the deep esteem and mutual respect that characterize the relations between Dakar and Abidjan, which constitute a fundamental pillar of balance in West Africa," they indicate.
For them, Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire are linked by "a fraternal history and strategic proximity." "They share the ambition of a stronger, more united Africa, in control of its own future. The meeting between the two heads of state will consolidate this momentum, deepen bilateral cooperation in innovative sectors, and reaffirm a joint commitment to more structured and ambitious South-South cooperation."
"At a time when the sub-region is facing many challenges, the presence of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye alongside his Ivorian counterpart clearly reaffirms Senegal's position: that of a nation resolutely committed to promoting peace, stability and unity in the West African space, and above all determined to work towards strengthening an ECOWAS capable of meeting the legitimate aspirations of its people," they recall.
Thus, the President of the Republic remains deeply convinced, according to Idrissa Ibrahima Wélé and Lababa Faye, that "this new stage of leadership will further strengthen the fraternal ties between the two nations and pave the way towards a shared future, based on trust, solidarity and continental ambition".

Si vous croyez que Diomaye allait decliner l'invitation d'une investitutre presidentielle pour votre journee des tirailleurs de Sweat Beaute, alors la vous etes vraiment des malades. Je dirai meme c'est Sonko qui a changer la date de cette journee pour la caller avec le Diomaye, comme il l'a habitude de le faire. Et meme si DIomaye etait la, je vois mal un president assister a ce genre de comedie. La seule perosnne qui doit s'en occuper, est celui qui appele les jeunes a mourir: " plus y'aura des morts, plus la pression s'accroit sur Macky Sall" disait-il.
