The Senegalese Catholic community will celebrate the 41st diocesan edition of World Youth Day (WYD) on March 22 and 23, 2026, at the Epiphany of the Lord parish in Nianing, within the Popenguine deanery.Centered on the theme "Take courage, I have conquered the world," this event is a call to faith and fraternity, encouraging young people to face life's challenges with determination and hope.The scheduled activities include liturgical celebrations, prayer vigils, and a solemn Mass on Sunday, which will be celebrated by the Archbishop of Dakar, Monsignor André Guèye.Diocesan World Youth Days aim to promote a living and committed faith among youth, create spaces for exchange and sharing across cultures and generations, and encourage young people's engagement in their communities and the Church.This year, over 45,000 young people from the Dakar diocese are expected in Nianing to celebrate their faith.Initiated in 1984 by Pope John Paul II to bring together young Catholics from around the world, World Youth Day events are organized annually in various dioceses across Senegal and celebrated nationally every five years.
