Misère des médias : la surprenante lecture de Cheikh Oumar Diagne, le ministre de la Communication ne devrait pas aimer
Without naming it, Cheikh Oumar Diagne accuses the government of wanting to stifle the media for an undisclosed purpose. "A country that lets its newspapers die is a country that is preparing to govern in secrecy," suggested the former Director of General Services at the Presidency in remarks made during a conference held this Saturday in Guédiawaye, and reported by Les Échos.
The newspaper reports that Diagne criticized the tax policies applied to the media and the lack of support which, according to him, have "pushed several newsrooms to the brink of collapse." The Minister of Communication, Alioune Sall, will surely appreciate this.
In his indictment of the current government, the speaker did not limit himself to the situation of the press. Les Échos reports that he also lamented the elimination of family allowances, "the lifeblood of 400,000 families," expressed concern about the plight of the construction sector, "sacrificed and abandoned," and warned of the explosion of poverty in the country between 2021 and 2025.
