« En face, c'est du talent pur » : Édouard Mendy salue l'attaque des Bleus et regrette le manque de réaction de ses coéquipiers
After the match, Senegalese goalkeeper Édouard Mendy was keen to highlight the attacking potential of Les Bleus.
Following Senegal's 3-1 defeat to France in their opening World Cup match on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium in New York, Édouard Mendy spoke to beIN Sports. The Senegalese goalkeeper conceded three goals, including two to Kylian Mbappé, the new all-time leading scorer for Les Bleus, despite a strong first half.
In the post-match interview, the Al-Ahli goalkeeper lamented his team's cautious approach: "We didn't manage to implement our game plan, it was a bit sluggish, even in the first half. We knew that in the second half, we had to come back and raise our level, being a bit sharper offensively, but we only managed that in periods."
Mendy also praised the French team's attacking potential, which proved very dangerous as soon as they got going: "They're pure talent; every half-chance is very dangerous for us." The Senegalese goalkeeper has now called on his team to focus on their next group stage match against Norway (Tuesday, June 23, kick-off at 2 a.m.).
