Equipe de France : les Bleus au complet après l'arrivée des finalistes de la Ligue des champions
The six finalists of the Champions League, won on Saturday by PSG at the expense of Arsenal, joined the French team's World Cup preparation camp on Tuesday morning at Clairefontaine, which is now complete and at 26 players, according to a source close to Les Bleus.
The five Parisians, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, Lucas Hernandez and Warren Zaïre-Emery, crowned European champions with their club on Saturday in Budapest for the second consecutive year, as well as the Gunner William Saliba, finalist, have joined the twenty players already in full preparation at the training center of the Blues.
Reported by some media outlets on Monday that Saliba was suffering from a back injury and doubtful for the competition, coach Didier Deschamps stated in an interview with the regional press that he is "doing well." "That's not factual. I don't know where that came from and I don't want to know," he added, clearly annoyed.
The 26 players will receive a visit from Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte on Tuesday afternoon before their departure for the United States on June 10.
As was the case in 2018 and 2022, the President of the Republic and the First Lady will greet Kylian Mbappé and his teammates. "On this occasion," the Élysée Palace indicated, "the Head of State will speak with the players and the coaching staff of the French men's national football team to offer them his support and that of the entire country."
The president will also meet with the French women's team, who are preparing at Clairefontaine for two crucial matches to qualify for the 2027 World Cup to be held in Brazil.
Didier Deschamps' French team is due to play two friendly matches, on Thursday against Ivory Coast in Nantes and on June 8 against Northern Ireland in Lille, before flying on June 10 to their base camp in Boston.
Drawn into Group I in the first round of the World Cup, Les Bleus will enter the tournament on June 16 against Senegal at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (New Jersey) before two matches against Iraq, on June 22 in Philadelphia, and Norway, on June 26 in Foxborough (Massachusetts).
