On March 29, 2026, following the Ligue 1 match between AS Pikine and Guédiawaye Football Club (GFC), localized incidents were reported near the sports complex. Despite overall crowd control, isolated acts of vandalism were committed around 7:00 PM by a group of supporters on their return route (the Stade Rond-point 26 axis).
According to a statement from the National Police published on Monday, the victims went to the district police station of Parcelles Assainies to make statements relating to projectiles being thrown which caused damage to the premises.
In their document, the Police indicate that a private parking lot and a hardware store were targeted, and that windows of the commercial establishment and the hardware store in question were smashed.
In addition, five vehicles were damaged by projectiles, including four parked inside the parking lot and a third vehicle whose rear windshield was broken.
CCTV footage used
In this regard, the Police emphasize that the immediate exploitation of CCTV images and amateur videos made it possible to confirm the modus operandi of the sporadic stone throwing carried out by young individuals opportunistically blending into the crowd to escape the police.
"The National Police wishes to inform the public that an investigation has been opened with the aim of identifying, arresting and prosecuting the perpetrators of these acts of vandalism before the judicial authorities," the police said in their statement.
It should be noted that, in order to prevent any clashes between the two rival groups, strictly separate routes had been implemented by the security forces. AS Pikine supporters were required to enter and exit the stadium via the national highway and the Senegal 92 bridge towards the main entrance.
