Approvisionnement de Kédougou en moutons de Tabaski : 8500 petits ruminants déjà recensés
As Tabaski 2026 approaches, the supply operations for points of sale with small ruminants are showing encouraging momentum in the region, despite a still partial level of coverage.
According to the latest statistics as of May 9, 2026, the supply rate of the various points of sale stands at 67%. Between April 20 and May 9, a total of 8,559 small ruminants were recorded at the markets, including 6,466 sheep and 2,093 goats.
These figures reflect a gradual mobilization of industry players in preparation for the high demand linked to the Eid al-Adha festival, a period during which access to livestock is a major issue for households.
Compared to the same period in 2025, statistics show a surplus of 606 additional head this year, a sign of a relative improvement in supply on the market.
This positive development could help reassure the population about the availability of livestock, although efforts are still expected to further strengthen supply in the coming weeks.
Authorities and professionals in the sector remain mobilized to ensure better coverage of needs, stabilize the market and facilitate access for families to sacrificial animals under good conditions.
