ESCROQUERIE : F. Diop grugée de plus de 2 millions de FCFA en voulant faire voyager ses enfants en Angleterre
Originally from Touba, Mr. Dieng tricked Ms. F. Diop, a resident of Thiès, into believing he was in England, where his boss was recruiting new employees. He then managed to convince Ms. Diop to pay him 2,733,500 FCFA to travel with her two children, under the pretext of administrative fees.
To make the scam seem credible, he made video calls, showing luxurious locations and insisting that this mother submit her children's applications.
While expecting her children to board the flight to England, Ms. F. Diop discovered she was dealing with a con artist. She filed a police report to have Mr. Dieng arrested. Placed in pretrial detention, the defendant is being tried this Friday, January 9th, by the Thiès court for flagrant offenses.
In court, he admitted the facts and pledged to repay all the money as soon as he gets out of prison.
The public prosecutor considered Mr. Dieng guilty of the acts and requested 2 years in prison, one year of which would be suspended.
The verdict will be delivered soon.
