Journée nationale de l’arbre à Goudomp : Le préfet Abdou Diop appelle à la responsabilité collective
On the occasion of National Tree Day, celebrated on August 3, 2025, the prefect of Goudomp, Abdou Diop, called on the population to go beyond the symbolic gesture of planting trees and engage in their monitoring and maintenance in order to preserve the environment.
During his speech, the prefectural authority deplored a major obstacle to the revitalization of arboriculture: stray animals. According to him, this phenomenon constitutes a "serious constraint" to the survival of young plants. He thus urged the population to become more involved in the protection of plantations, emphasizing that "planting is one thing, but ensuring monitoring and maintenance is another."
Despite these challenges, the prefect was optimistic, counting on the commitment of the communities and the dynamism of the Water, Forestry and Hunting Department to meet this collective challenge.
