Kolda : le piège odieux des faux policiers se referme sur une fillette de 12 ans
In Kolda, two young men were sentenced to ten years in prison for the gang rape of a 12-year-old girl after impersonating police officers. The crime took place on the night of June 1-2, 2024, during a religious ceremony held in Bouna Kane, according to L'Observateur.
The newspaper of the Future Media Group, recounting the events of the tragedy, explains that B. Souané, 20, and D. Kandé, 26, approached the child under the pretext of checking her identity before taking her to a secluded basketball court. There, they allegedly undressed her and then sexually assaulted her in turns before abandoning her there.
Before the Criminal Chamber of the Kolda High Court, the same source continued, the two defendants finally confessed to the crimes, thus contradicting their initial statements made during the investigation and before the investigating judge. The prosecutor had requested twenty years' imprisonment for each of them, denouncing the exceptional gravity of the acts and the cynicism of the scheme used to deceive the victim.
The court ultimately found them guilty on all charges, including gang rape, pedophilia, indecent assault, complicity, and impersonating a public official. In addition to the ten-year prison sentence handed down to them, the court ordered B. Souané and D. Kandé to jointly pay 500,000 FCFA to the victim, D. Seydi, as damages for the harm suffered.
