Pour reconquérir son ex-amant : La déléguée médicale simule une grossesse
NS Bitèye, a divorced mother of one and medical representative, was tried this Friday in the Pikine-Guédiawaye court for extortion. She is being prosecuted for faking a pregnancy in order to win back her former lover, businessman B. Mbengue, who had ended their relationship.
According to court proceedings, unable to cope with the breakup, the defendant concocted a scheme to win him back. To this end, she downloaded a fake pregnancy test from the internet and sent it to her ex-partner to make him believe she was pregnant. Worse still, she allegedly demanded 300,000 CFA francs from him for an abortion.
Fed up with the situation, B. Mbengue finally cut off all contact with her last October. In response, the defendant posted a message on her ex-lover's company's Instagram account: "I'm pregnant by B. Mbengue. He just has to take responsibility." This caused quite a stir among the boss's colleagues.
In court, NS Bitèye denied the extortion charges. "I just wanted it back," she told the judge.
B. Mbengue did not appear and was represented by his counsel. In his plea, the lawyer argued that the harm suffered was considerable, but claimed only a symbolic one franc in damages.
The public prosecutor has requested a six-month prison sentence.
For the defense, attorney Tafsir Abdoul Sy argued that there was no extortion in this case and requested leniency in the application of the penal code. He explained that his client had indeed been in a relationship with him, but after she moved, he allegedly took advantage of the situation to end the relationship. The pregnancy, he claimed, was fabricated solely to get him to return.
Regarding the 300,000 CFA francs, Me Sy specified that this sum had been sent by the civil party to help the defendant treat her sick child.
In its ruling, the court reclassified the charges from extortion to fraud. NS Bitèye was sentenced to six months in prison, one month of which is to be served. The judge also awarded the plaintiff one symbolic franc in damages.
