Présidentielle-2026 au Bénin : L’ancien président Boni Yayi, et le duo-candidat de l’opposition, convoqués par la police
In Benin, the judicial police have summoned former President Thomas Boni Yayi and the duo Renaud Abodjo-Jude Lodjou, candidates of the opposition party Les Démocrates in the 2026 presidential election. This is as part of an investigation into the sponsorship of MP Sodjinou.
"They reminded us that we are in criminal matters."
The three personalities were due to appear at the institution's premises this Wednesday, October 22, but they sent their lawyers, Mr. Francis Dako and Mr. Sadikou Alao.
The disgruntled investigators demanded the actual presence of the accused. "They reminded us that we are dealing with criminal matters and that the individuals themselves must be present. They insist that they come in person, not as representatives," Francis Dako told the press.
The judicial police were not sensitive to the argument of the black robe which reminded that Renaud Agbodjo is a lawyer and that there were procedural rules to respect before summoning him.
He accuses
Let us recall that the case under investigation by the judicial police relates to the sponsorship of MP Sodjinou. This opposition member of the Democrats party had refused to sponsor the duo of candidates of the political party for the 2026 presidential election. He recently accused his party of having used his name without his consent in a sponsorship form sent to the Electoral Commission.
