Abdourahmane Tiani, président du Niger : «Nous sommes environ à un taux de croissance de 6,9% »
In Niger, President Abdourahmane Tiani recently gave an interview on national television. Among the topics discussed with the army general was the country's economic situation. According to the coup leader, the indicators are rather positive, despite a turbulent global economic environment.
"External accounts are in surplus"
“We have strong growth. In 2026, despite the decline, we are at approximately a growth rate of 6.9%. We have a controlled inflation rate, we have external accounts that are in surplus and we also have efficient public services; all these beginnings of prosperity benefit the people of Niger,” the president said.
The leader also highlighted a reduction in the budget deficit from 4.1% to 3.2%. The debt is also sustainable. It represents 43.2% of GDP, which is well below the 70% warning threshold, Mr. Tiani stated.
Niger is therefore heading towards a brighter future if we are to believe the statements of the Army General.
