Accra, capitale de la géo-intelligence africaine
The 11th session of the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Africa (UN-GGIM Africa), scheduled for November 17-21, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, promises to be a pivotal moment for the continent's digital and spatial development. Under the theme "Harnessing Geo-Intelligence for a Sustainable and Resilient Future in Africa," the meeting will focus on the strategic use of geospatial data to strengthen planning, governance, and economic sustainability.
The work will focus on several key areas: capacity building, interoperability of national databases, technological innovation, and the modernization of mapping systems. The session will serve to review a decade of progress in geo-intelligence and to define the prospects for consolidating African digital sovereignty in the management and use of spatial data.
Accra will thus become a continental hub bringing together researchers, public decision-makers, and private stakeholders to reflect on the ethical and strategic challenges related to the collection, sharing, and use of geospatial information. The event also offers an opportunity to foster regional partnerships and strengthen African integration through innovative and sustainable digital solutions.
