On Wednesday, March 5th, a young man of Malian origin was found dead at his workplace, in a "Taagana" (a type of informal restaurant). This discovery caused shock in the Santhiaba neighborhood, where the tragedy occurred, as well as in the town of Ziguinchor.

The police investigation led to the arrest of a suspected perpetrator, who was taken into custody within hours of the tragedy while the case was being investigated. Initially, the theory of a murder was widely considered. However, the investigation ultimately revealed another hypothesis: suicide.

Based on the testimonies of the people questioned for the purposes of the investigation, as well as on several technical and scientific data, the investigators finally closed the case and came to the conclusion of a suicide, according to several concordant sources.

According to our information, the investigators in charge of this case quickly reached this conclusion after their findings at the scene of the tragedy. These elements, corroborated by statements from the victim's relatives, the examination of the deceased's body, and the autopsy results, ruled out the possibility of murder.

According to the evidence gathered during the investigation, after hearing testimony from his boss and relatives, the young man was showing signs of depression.

The victim's body was finally handed over to his relatives on Saturday, March 7, for burial.

It is worth remembering that this young man of Malian origin was born in 2005.
