Afrique du Sud : 20 ans de prison pour 7 ressortissants chinois condamnés pour traite humaine
A Johannesburg court sentenced seven Chinese citizens to 20 years in prison on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, for human trafficking and forced labor.
The group was convicted of exploiting 91 illegal Malawians between 2017 and 2019 at a textile factory in Village Deep, where the victims worked in appalling conditions.
Arrested in November 2019, the defendants were found responsible for subjecting workers to 11-hour shifts without safety or training. The prosecution had sought life sentences, but the court awarded them a 20-year prison sentence.
