Attaque de l’aéroport de Niamey : Le général Tiani évoque un montant que "les sponsors" des assaillants auraient déboursé
Abdourahmane Tiani remains steadfast in his position: the presidents whose names he cited on January 29th did indeed "collaborate" with the "mercenaries" who attacked Niamey airport and the nearby airbase. The Nigerien president even mentioned the amount these figures allegedly paid to finance the offensive.
"The attack cost (these) sponsors 300 million."
“The attack on Amani Diori airport benefited from the collaboration of the countries I mentioned, and particularly their presidents… The attack cost these sponsors 300 million. 200 million for preparations and 100 million for the claim of responsibility. Initially, no group was willing to claim responsibility. Contrary to usual practice, it was nearly 72 hours later that the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) claimed responsibility. They received 100 million CFA francs in cash for this,” General Tiani stated in a recent interview with Niger’s national television station, RTN.
He also revealed the identity of the terrorist groups involved in the attack and the methods used.
“This attack involved 10 motorcycles belonging to GSIM mercenaries, 10 motorcycles plus one vehicle from EIGS, and 20 motorcycles from Boko Haram and its ISWAP wing. These are the groups identified by the countries I mentioned. Because if you contribute financially, as far as we are concerned, you are participating knowingly. You cannot be offended when your names are mentioned,” declared the Nigerien president.
He insists that his statements are not intended to make unfounded accusations. "Every time we speak out, it's because we have evidence," stated the commander-in-chief of Niger.
