Bénin : Joseph Djogbénou élu président du Parlement
In Benin, the deputies elected during the last legislative elections of January 2026 were installed this Sunday, February 8, 2026. The ceremony took place in the hemicycle in Porto-Novo, under the direction of a provisional bureau composed of the oldest deputy in parliament, Mr. N'da Antoine N'da, assisted by the two youngest deputies of this 10th legislature, namely Faridatou Traoré Yacoubou and Issa Youssouf.
Elected with flying colors
After their installation, the members of parliament proceeded to elect the Speaker of Parliament. The sole candidate for the position, Joseph Djogbénou, former Minister of Justice under Patrice Talon, was elected with resounding success. All 109 members of parliament cast their votes for him. It was a landslide victory for the man who also served as President of the Constitutional Court.
