Bénin : La médiation des démocrates échoue, Boni Yayi maintient sa démission du parti
The die is cast. Boni Yayi will not return to the leadership of the opposition party, Les Démocrates. The delegation sent by the party to persuade him to reconsider his decision failed in its mission. The former Beninese president maintained that he was leaving the party and its leadership. He remained unmoved by the delegation's arguments, which reminded him of his crucial role within the party.
A Congress in Sight
After this unsuccessful meeting which took place yesterday Tuesday March 10 in Tchaourou (neighboring town of Parakou) the members of the delegation will return to Cotonou to probably take stock of their expedition at the national coordination of the party.
The next step will most likely be the organization of a Congress to elect the new party president.
It should be noted that Boni Yayi cited health reasons to justify his resignation as head of the political party. The former leader says he wants to use his remaining time to rest.
