Bénin : Les autorités ordonnent le retrait du marché du lait pour enfants NURSIE
The Beninese Food Safety Agency (ABSSA) has ordered the immediate cessation of sales of NURSIE infant formula and its removal from distribution channels. This was announced in a statement issued by its Director General, Kinnou Kisito Chabi Sika, yesterday, Friday, March 6, 2026.
The organization says it was informed of an "exceedance of the regulatory limit of cereulide, a toxic compound of bacterial origin, in this infant milk from Ireland".
Return the products to the places of purchase so that the importers can recall them.
In addition to halting the sale of NURSIE products and removing them from distribution channels, ABSSA orders the "immediate recall of batches already sold", the immediate cessation of consumption, the return of products to the places of purchase so that importers can recall them and the transmission to the competent authorities of the Ministry in charge of Health of any report or incidents related to the consumption of these incriminated products.
She points out that "NURSIE is intended for a particularly sensitive population, especially infants and young children. Because of this risk profile, it is therefore classified in the category of hazardous products."
