In a crusade against the sale of certain foodstuffs in shops without respect for hygiene and safety standards, the head of the Dakar regional hygiene brigade (BRHD), Captain Idrissa Ndiaye, declared that instructions have been given for the respect of hygiene and safety rules in these places.
"In certain neighborhoods of Dakar and even beyond Dakar, in all regions of Senegal, shopkeepers are setting up places to carry out parallel activities (breakfast and dinner), practices that can endanger consumers and the population. This is why all the brigades in the Dakar region are instructed to carry out control operations in these places to put an end to these types of activities," he stated on Sud FM.
"These instructions, in accordance with the hygiene code with articles l 37 and l 42, describe the situation of places where food is sold," he says.
According to Mr. Ndiaye, these practices can cause difficulties in terms of security (possibility of fires at these sales locations), in terms of health (often very unsanitary conditions on the premises) and in terms of sanitation (many vectors which can cause diseases).
"These controls will ultimately help us eradicate this phenomenon, which is denounced by the population," he concluded.

Bonne initiative.
