Burkina : Elle jette l’enfant de sa coépouse dans un puits et écope de la perpétuité
In Burkina Faso, the Criminal Chamber of the Yako High Court sentenced a woman to life imprisonment on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, for the murder of a 3-year-old girl. The victim was the child of her co-wife.
The events date back to April 12, 2022.
Taking advantage of the absence of her rival, whom she detested, Lady OA led the poor girl to an orchard near the houses where there was a well. She then threw her into the underground water reservoir.
After committing the crime, she quietly returned home. The child's disappearance aroused the parents' anxiety. Suspicion quickly fell on Ms. OA, known for her difficult relationship with the child's mother.
To harm his co-wife by killing her little girl
Arrested and questioned by investigators from the Yako gendarmerie, she eventually confessed to her crime. According to her statements, the aim was to harm her co-wife by killing her young daughter.
At the conclusion of the proceedings and after examining the facts, the Criminal Chamber upheld the charge of premeditated murder. It decided to impose the maximum penalty on the murderer, who was therefore sentenced to life imprisonment.
