Burkina Faso : Adoption de la Carte d’identité biométrique AES

The Council of Ministers on November 6, 2025 adopted two decrees from the Ministry of Security, one of which establishes the AES biometric identity card.

This document aims to provide citizens with a modern, secure identity card that meets regional and international standards. Issued from the age of 5, the card will be valid for ten years and will facilitate access to basic social services.

A five-year transition period is planned before the final withdrawal of the old identity cards in the ESA member states.
