Changement climatique : William Ruto reçoit Macky Sall à Nairobi pour accélérer le financement de l’adaptation climatique en Afrique
William Samoei Ruto reaffirmed the strength of the partnership between Kenya and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), highlighting its growing impact on climate action in Kenya and across the African continent.
In a statement, the Kenyan head of state indicated that this collaboration focuses on developing resilient infrastructure, strengthening agriculture, and improving resource management in the face of climate change impacts. He welcomed the establishment of the GCA's African headquarters in Nairobi, believing that this strategic presence will accelerate the mobilization of climate adaptation financing in Africa.
According to William Ruto, the GCA, whose chairman of the GCA board is Macky Sall, former head of state of Senegal, will continue to play a key role in unlocking resources to support African countries, particularly through the Adaptation Acceleration Program in Africa.
This program aims to strengthen community resilience and address the harsh realities of climate change through concrete and sustainable solutions.
The Kenyan president also received the Oversight Council, chaired by the former president of Senegal, at State House in Nairobi. Discussions focused on strategies to increase investment in climate adaptation and support African economies facing environmental challenges.
Through this partnership, Nairobi intends to consolidate its role as an African hub for initiatives related to climate adaptation and strengthen continental cooperation in the face of the environmental emergency.
