Clôture du CFCU 2025-2 : Une formation stratégique pour les futurs commandants d’unité
The graduation ceremony, marking the close of the second 2025 session of the Future Unit Commanders Training Course (CFCU 2025-2), took place on Wednesday, January 28, at the Joint Forces Application and Advanced Training School (EAPI) in Thiès. It was presided over by Brigadier General Simon Ndour, Chief of Staff of the Army.
In his address, he expressed his satisfaction at presiding over the ceremony, while welcoming the presence of trainee officers from Benin, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea, Mauritania, Rwanda, and Chad. "This participation illustrates the dynamics of African integration as well as the trust and esteem placed in EAPI for the training of the continent's military leaders," he said.
The Chief of Staff of the Army also reaffirmed his appreciation for French military cooperation, whose strong and lasting partnership, he said, contributes to strengthening the capabilities of the Senegalese Armed Forces and to the continuous improvement of the training provided to young officers.
The Brigadier General stated that this ceremony marks the culmination of four and a half months of intensive training, characterized by the individual and collective efforts of the trainee officers. "This training course, part of their ongoing professional development, aims to prepare young officers for their future responsibilities as commanders of combat companies," he affirmed.
For him, the CFCU also provides a framework for exchanges and sharing of experiences, allowing for a better understanding of current security challenges. "In a context marked by the complexity and evolution of threats, the training emphasizes the reversibility and flexibility of use of infantry units, which have become imperatives of modern command," he said.
From a pedagogical point of view, General Simon Ndour emphasizes that the CFCU develops in trainees the mastery of combined arms combat, an essential condition for the effectiveness of land units engaged in volatile and unpredictable operational environments, both nationally and multinationally.
"Beyond operational action, the training also prepares future unit commanders to assume important administrative responsibilities, including personnel and equipment management, as well as the training and operational readiness of their subordinates," he added.
Finally, the Brigadier General praised the rise in power of the EAPI, made possible by the constant improvement of educational and reception infrastructure, offering a working and living environment adapted to the requirements of military training.
