Conakry : deux femmes interpellées pour trafic international de stupéfiants

The General Directorate of the National Police (DGPN) is intensifying its fight against organized crime and drug trafficking throughout the country. It is within this framework that a major operation conducted by the Central Anti-Drug Office (OCAD) recently led to the arrest of two women suspected of involvement in a vast drug trafficking network.

According to Captain Rama Baldé, in charge of communication for the national police, this operation is part of the dynamic initiated by the Director General of the national police, Djenaba Sory Camara.

A major seizure at Conakry International Airport

The events date back to Friday, December 19, 2025, when Ms. Dacosta Quinta was arrested at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport in Conakry.

She was in possession of 159 slabs of hashish, a high-concentration cannabis derivative, representing a total weight of 16.8 kilograms.

When questioned by OCAD investigators, the suspect stated that the drugs belonged to Ms. Fatoumata Sy. She also reportedly admitted to having transported large quantities of narcotics on two occasions for Ms. Sy.

Arrest after a month of surveillance

Following these revelations, the research brigade was immediately mobilized, explains Captain Rama Baldé.

After a month of tailing and surveillance, Ms. Fatoumata Sy was finally arrested by OCAD on January 19, 2026.

"The investigations revealed that the suspect had made several trips abroad, including to Mali, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco and Ivory Coast, reinforcing suspicions of an international trafficking operation," the police emphasized.

Legal proceedings have been initiated.

According to the results of the investigation, Ms. Fatoumata Sy could be prosecuted for possession, transport and international trafficking of cocaine and psychotropic substances, acts provided for and punished by articles 812 and 821 of the Penal Code in force.

The police reaffirm their determination

To strengthen the effectiveness of this fight and dismantle criminal networks, the national police are calling for citizen collaboration, inviting the public to report any useful information to the toll-free number 117.
