Conakry : une femme arrêtée à l’aéroport avec plus d’un kilogramme de cocaïne dissimulé dans des chaussures

Agents from the Central Anti-Drug Office (OCAD) apprehended a woman at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport as she attempted to bring more than one kilogram of cocaine into the country, carefully concealed in her luggage and shoes.

According to Divisional Police Commissioner Abdoulaye Sangaré, Central Director of OCAD, the operation was carried out on the basis of operational intelligence exploited by his services.

"The drugs, weighing more than one kilogram, had been carefully concealed in his suitcases and at the bottom of his shoes," he specified.

A second arrest following a tip-off

Placed in police custody, the first suspect cooperated with investigators, revealing the name of her alleged accomplice, a foreign national residing in Guinea.

OCAD's specialized services reacted immediately and arrested him the following day in the Bambéto district of Conakry.

The two women have since been brought before the Mafanco court of first instance, where they will have to answer for international drug trafficking.

The increasing involvement of women in trafficking is worrying.

When questioned about the increasingly frequent presence of women in trafficking networks, Divisional Commissioner Sangaré expressed deep concern:

"It is our sisters, very unfortunately, who are involved in this. It is very distressing. But we must take into account that the way women conceal drugs is more difficult to detect than when men do," he explained.

Before adding, not without bitterness:

"Most of the women who drive high-powered cars are involved in drugs."

Increasingly sophisticated trafficking

According to authorities, traffickers are multiplying their methods of concealment, ranging from luggage with false bottoms to modified shoes or cosmetic products.

This successful operation at Conakry airport illustrates the intensification of the fight against drug trafficking, which OCAD is conducting across the country with the support of the security and justice services.
