His son Augustin, Tidjane's elder brother, is the minister, governor of the Autonomous District of Yamoussoukro and head of the Akouès Canton (ethnic group), of the capital city.
Doctor by training
Unlike Tidjane, the current leader of the PDCI-RDA, this medical doctor is an activist in the ruling RHDP party. He also holds a diploma from the prestigious Centre de Formation à la Profession de Journaliste (CFPJ) on Rue du Louvre in Paris.

It is known that he worked at "Jeune Afrique" in Paris for 5 years. As for his medical career, it was mainly spent in Ivory Coast. He worked for a long time in the Anesthesia-Resuscitation departments of the University Hospitals (CHU) of Treichville and Cocody.
Member of the RHDP since 2004
He entered politics in 2004, after the fire that affected Alassane Ouattara's house. He requested and obtained a meeting with the current president. The two men immediately hit it off. Since then, they have been inseparable.
In 2010, he campaigned for Ouattara. On May 13, 2020, Ouattara appointed him Minister Governor of the Autonomous District of Yamoussoukro. He was reappointed to his post on June 18, 2021.
Campaigning for Ouattara in Yamoussoukro this weekend
Augustin Thiam, who favors a fourth term for President Ouattara, is currently campaigning for his champion. Last weekend, he toured seven villages in the autonomous district of Yamoussoukro with the elected member of parliament for the commune of Yamoussoukro and the regional campaign director in charge of Yamoussoukro.
In each village, the three figures and other elected officials and RHDP officials called for a vote for Alassane Ouattara. Augustin Thiam specifically asked the population to vote en masse for the outgoing president "in order to guarantee the future of their children and continuity in the development of the district."

Tidjane Thiam's older brother was born on August 14, 1952, in Yamoussoukro. He is the third boy in a family of seven children. He is a Catholic Christian. He is fluent in French, English, Spanish, Baoulé, and Wolof, and is the father of two children.
