The first-place candidate received 1,328,475 votes, representing 48.92% of the votes cast. This score allows them to secure 963 municipal council seats. The Republican Bloc came in second with 1,206,390 votes, or 44.43% of the valid ballots. They won 852 council seats.
Zero advisors for FCBE
The Forces Cauris for an Emerging Benin party, despite receiving 180,663 votes, has no councilors. It failed to reach the threshold required for the allocation of municipal councilor positions.
In short, only the two parties aligned with the president won this election. The FCBE, which presents itself as an opposition political party, was eliminated.
Of the 7,834,608 registered voters on the computerized permanent electoral roll, only 2,872,802 voted on January 11th. The turnout rate was 36.67%.
