Énergie, pressing, efficacité : Habib Diarra coche toutes les cases en Premier League, selon Le Bris
A goalscorer and decisive player, Habib Diarra was one of the key figures in Sunderland's 3-0 victory over Burnley yesterday, in the 24th round of Premier League fixtures. His complete performance symbolized the resurgence of the Senegalese midfielder, a return long awaited after a difficult period marked by injury and his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco 2025.
Highly active in midfield, Diarra first found the back of the net and was involved in the own goal scored by a Burnley defender. A complete performance, which did not go unnoticed by his coach Régis Le Bris, who was visibly pleased with the display from his player, an African champion with Senegal.
“We talked a lot this week about a new beginning. We supported him during his injury, then during the AFCON and we were convinced that upon his return, he would have all the qualities to establish himself,” explained the French coach.
Le Bris also emphasized Diarra's profile and mindset, perfectly suited to the demands of the English league: "He is a very competitive player. He wants to win, press, score. He brings us that energy, which is very important in this league."
Although he joined the squad late, Habib Diarra remains a key element of Sunderland's project. His manager points out that he was one of the club's first major signings in the transfer market. "He was one of our first recruits. He set the tone when we decided to move forward with him," recalls Le Bris.
Now fully recovered and back in form, the midfielder is expected to maintain this level of performance. "Now, I hope he'll string together this kind of performance," Le Bris concluded.
