« Les Gabonais sont des chiens » : Un ressortissant nigérian condamné à 3 mois de prison pour insultes (Il sera expulsé du pays)
Some will say that justice has been heavy-handed. In Gabon, Onuba Obina, a Nigerian national, was sentenced to three months in prison after uttering insults deemed shocking against two Gabonese women. He will be immediately expelled from the country after serving his sentence.
Indeed, the Gabonese justice system has imposed a five-year residence ban on him. Onuba Obina has been living in Gabon for 11 years. He will therefore have to leave the country reluctantly.
A video that went viral
The acts he is accused of occurred on the night of August 31 to September 1. A video that went viral shows him in a taxi, hurling shocking insults at two Gabonese passengers. "Gabonese people are dogs," he told them.
These insults, described as degrading, provoked a wave of indignation in the country. The Gabonese justice system quickly took up the case.
