Ghana : le parlement vote une loi anti-LGBTQ
Ghana passed an anti-LGBTQ law on Friday. The legislation is already considered one of the most repressive on the continent.
It provides for sentences of up to three years imprisonment for people having homosexual relationships, and between three and five years for the promotion, sponsorship or intentional support of LGBT+ activities.
It incorporates the main provisions of the bill unanimously adopted by the Ghanaian parliament in 2024, but former president Nana Akufo-Addo had not signed it.
In Ghana, same-sex relations are prohibited under a law dating back to the colonial era. However, in practice, it has never been enforced.
The text voted on Friday still needs to be promulgated by President John Mahama before it can be implemented.
