Guinée : Le Président Mamadi Doumbouya prête serment pour un mandat de sept ans

CONAKRY, January 17, 2026 – This is a historic day for the Republic of Guinea. General Mamadi Doumbouya, elected on December 28 as head of state, was officially sworn in this Saturday at the Nongo stadium, before a jubilant crowd and numerous dignitaries from around the world.

The ceremony, imbued with solemnity and national pride, was attended by an impressive array of African leaders. Those present in Conakry included:

the president of Mali, the president of Senegal, the president of Gabon, the president of Rwanda, the president of Gambia, the president of Mauritania, and the president of Liberia.

Several official delegations, from different countries and international organizations, also attended this major event.

Before the Constitutional Court and in the presence of the people, General Mamadi Doumbouya solemnly declared:

“I, Mamadi Doumbouya, President-elect of the Republic, swear before God and before the People of Guinea, on my honor: to respect and to ensure that the Constitution, the laws, the regulations and the decisions of the court are scrupulously respected;

to faithfully and honorably perform the duties entrusted to me in the best interests of the Nation; never to use the powers vested in me for personal gain; to preserve, in all places and circumstances, peace, social cohesion, and national unity; to defend the institutions of the Republic, the integrity of the territory, and national independence. In case of perjury, may I suffer the full force of the law.

This swearing-in ceremony marks the official start of the seven-year term of President Doumbouya, the first head of state of the Fifth Republic of Guinea, resulting from the new Constitution adopted at the end of 2025.

In his speech, he reaffirmed his commitment to serving Guinea with loyalty, justice and integrity, while calling for national unity, social cohesion and lasting peace.

The ceremony concluded in a festive atmosphere, enlivened by artistic performances and patriotic songs, illustrating the joy and pride of the Guinean people.
