Guinée : Fin de parcours pour Toumba Diakité, décédé en détention ce mercredi
Commander Aboubacar Diakité, known by the nickname "Toumba", died this Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 04:35, at the military hospital of Camp Samory Touré in Conakry, the National Directorate of Penitentiary Administration and Reintegration announced through an official statement.
Convicted and detained at the Conakry Central Prison, “Toumba” was serving his sentence in accordance with the laws in force, the document states.
An already critical state of health
According to the authorities, a medical report dated March 4, 2026, described a worrying clinical picture. The doctors specifically mentioned epigastric swelling, persistent abdominal pain, chronic constipation, and sleep disturbances.
On March 23, 2026, following a medical emergency in prison, he was urgently evacuated to the military hospital at Camp Samory Touré, where he was taken care of by a specialized medical team.
The causes of death
Despite the care provided, the prisoner's health deteriorated rapidly. The attending physicians indicated that the death resulted from a strangulated linea alba hernia, complicated by acute generalized peritonitis.
An expected report
The National Directorate of Prison Administration and Reintegration announces that a detailed report will be sent to the competent judicial authorities for the purposes of the investigation and legal proceedings.
In her statement, she also expressed her condolences to the family of the deceased, his relatives and all his acquaintances.
