Guinée: Macron salue l'élection de Doumbouya, une "étape décisive"
French President Emmanuel Macron called Mamadi Doumbouya on Sunday evening, whose election as head of Guinea was validated by the Supreme Court, to "congratulate" him and welcome "this decisive step towards the completion of the transition" of the country, it was learned Monday from the Elysée.
The President of the Republic called Mamadi Doumbouya "to congratulate him after the validation of his victory in the Guinean presidential election by the Supreme Court," the Presidential Palace announced.
"He welcomed this decisive step towards the completion of the transition in Guinea" and "conveyed his wishes for success to President Doumbouya," it was added.
The new president, who has ruled Guinea with an iron fist since a 2021 coup that ousted civilian President Alpha Condé, won an election without a campaign, an election tailor-made for him. Leading opposition figures in exile were barred from the ballot amid a backdrop of shrinking freedoms in the country.
Emmanuel Macron also expressed to him "his determination to strengthen the bilateral partnership in the interest of both countries".
General Doumbouya was elected for a seven-year term, thanks to the validation on Sunday of the December 28th election, with 86.72% of the vote. This presidential election is intended to complete the return to constitutional order, four years after the military takeover.

Rappelons que Doumbouya a pris le pouvoir au prix de la vie de nombreux gardes et qu’il dirige aujourd’hui un régime accusé de graves violations des droits humains : enlèvements, tortures et assassinats, y compris d’enfants et de personnes âgées.
En saluant un tel homme, Macron cautionne indirectement un pouvoir marqué par la violence et la terreur.
Comment peut-on dénoncer la dictature d’un côté et encourager un putschiste de l’autre ? Cette incohérence révèle un profond opportunisme politique, où les principes démocratiques cèdent la place aux intérêts diplomatiques ou économiques.
En définitive, ce comportement donne l’image d’un chef d’État moralement incohérent — un Tartuffe moderne, prompt à condamner les autres tout en fermant les yeux sur les injustices qui l’arrangent.
