Côte d’Ivoire : L’artiste Debordo Leekunfa interpellé pour diffamation et non-respect de contrat
Ivorian artist Debordo Leekunfa was arrested and brought before the prosecutor in Abidjan on Thursday, November 13, 2025, following several complaints filed against him, according to the Police Secours platform.
Two main cases are behind this arrest: a complaint from his colleague Kérosène, who accuses him of defamation after remarks deemed serious on social networks, and a complaint from promoter Nama Bouaké, head of Nama Bouaké Production, who denounces unfounded accusations and a breach of contract.
In viral videos, Debordo allegedly claimed that Kérosène possessed weapons at his home and accused Nama Bouaké of fraud, ritual sacrifices, and money laundering. The promoter described these statements as "false" and "destructive," asserting that his family and reputation have been severely damaged.
So far, the artist has not publicly responded to the legal proceedings. He risks facing legal consequences if the allegations are proven.
This case reignites the debate on the responsibility of artists and verbal excesses on social media in Ivory Coast.
