La Celac et l’Afrique : Vers un nouveau partenariat stratégique Sud-Sud solide
The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) aims to further strengthen its ties with Africa and forge a robust South-South strategic partnership. It plans to meet with African states in Bogotá from March 18 to 21 for the first CELAC-Africa High-Level Forum.
According to the Colombian embassy in Senegal, this will be "a major political step in consolidating a strategic South-South partnership between two regions representing more than two billion citizens, or nearly a third of the world's population."
The meeting will be held under the temporary chairmanship of Colombia. CELAC aims, through this initiative, to institutionalize the dialogue between itself and Africa, in line with its Work Plan and the African Union's Agenda 2063.
Heads of State, Heads of Government, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, as well as High-Ranking Representatives of African, Latin American and International Institutions, and officials from regional Development Banks and the United Nations, are expected to attend.
The work will focus, among other things, on trade, investment, and South-South economic integration in conjunction with the AfCFTA. It will also examine cooperation on sustainable development, including energy, agriculture, health, housing, the environment, science, technology, etc.
