La Gambie va suspendre l’importation d’oignons et de pommes de terre
In The Gambia, the government announced in a statement that it will impose a moratorium on the importation of onions and potatoes from March 1, 2026. This measure, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, aims to strengthen national agricultural production, improve food security and support local farmers.
"The ban on onion imports will be in effect from March 1 to June 1, while the ban on potatoes will cover the period from March 1 to July 1, subject to extension," the Ministry of Commerce statement specified.
He also informs importers and traders that shipments of onions and potatoes imported without prior exemption will not be cleared after the moratorium comes into effect.
