Législatives- 2026 au Bénin : Les résultats définitifs proclamés
In Benin, the president of the Constitutional Court, Dorothé Sossa, proclaimed the final results of the recent legislative elections on Monday, January 19, 2026. Only the Progressive Union for Renewal (UPR) and the Republican Bloc (BR) emerged victorious.
The first party received 41.21% of the vote, compared to 36.62% for the second. These two parties were the only ones to reach the 20% threshold required by the Electoral Code for the allocation of seats in Parliament. The UPR won 60 seats and the BR 49.
16.20% of the vote for the Democrats party
The opposition party, the Democrats, suffered a crushing defeat. It garnered only 16.20% of the votes cast. Boni Yayi's political party will therefore not be represented in the National Assembly.
The Cauri Forces for an Emerging Benin (4.78%) and the Movement of Committed Elites for the Emancipation of Benin (1.19%) also note their failure, despite the parliamentary agreements signed with the UPR and the BR.
In his statement, the president of the Constitutional Court reminded everyone that candidates and political parties have 10 days to file any appeals. After this period, no appeals will be considered by the high court.
The turnout for this legislative election was 36.74%.
