Mégaprojet minier et d’infrastructures de Simandou : Paul Kagame crée la surprise à Conakry
It was a visit as unexpected as it was symbolic. Rwandan President Paul Kagame arrived in Conakry at the last minute, without any prior announcement of his trip. The Rwandan leader insisted on personally attending the historic ceremony officially launching the operational phase of the Simandou mining and infrastructure megaproject, alongside Guinean President General Mamadi Doumbouya.
The presence of Paul Kagame, an emblematic figure of modern African leadership, is seen by many observers as a strong sign of friendship and mutual respect between Kigali and Conakry. General Doumbouya, often an admirer of the Rwandan model of governance, has never hidden his inspiration from President Kagame's career, which he considers a continental benchmark in terms of discipline, vision, and economic development.
The participation of the Rwandan head of state in this major event thus gives a pan-African dimension to this ceremony which marks a new era for Guinea, destined to become a key player in mining development in Africa.

Ce projet ne rapporte que 700 millions de dollars par an. Il n'y a que dans la sous-region qu'on invite le monde entier pour juste inaugurer une usine dont le projet a duré 30 ans.
