Le Niger: Le gouvernement décrète l'évaluation individuelle des agents de la fonction publique de l’État
The Nigerien government has undertaken several major reforms to strengthen the performance of the public administration.
Adopted on September 4, 2025, the implementing decree now establishes the tools and procedures for systematic individual performance evaluations. Each employee will undergo an annual interview, resulting in a written report. The objective is to guarantee more transparent, equitable, and results-oriented management, in line with the requirements of public service.
At the same time, the law on the General Statute of the Civil Service was amended. It raises the retirement age from 60 to 62 and adjusts several thresholds: recruitment open up to age 42, possible reassignment up to age 52 and admission to retirement with immediate pension at age 57.
These reforms, presented as a turning point in administrative modernization, aim to provide Niger with a more efficient civil service that is better adapted to the country's needs.
